He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Fletcher and Thelma Southerland Byrd; and his siblings, John Larry Byrd and Pearl Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Wilma Nordan Byrd of Dunn; his children, Walt Byrd, Jr. (Betty Clover), Britton Byrd (Kim) of Greensboro and Leah Byrd of Fort Mill, S. C.; his sister Merle Johnson of Dunn; his grandchildren, Kellen and Kori Byrd; and his pet Charlie Byrd.
