He was predeceased by: his wife Rachel Parker Godwin; his parents, Robert M. Godwin and Minnie F.; and his siblings, Hughie, Dewey, Ellis, Laylon West, Irene Jernigan, Flonnie Hodges and Alice Guin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
