He was predeceased by: his father Alton Smith. He is survived by: his wife Suzette Smith; his daughters, Parrish S. Matthews (Alex) of Dunn and Hayden Smith of Dunn; and his siblings-in-law, Mike Sills (Annette) of Dunn and Regina Johnson of Dunn. He is also survived by several nieces and cousins.
