He was predeceased by: his parents, Vander Griffin and Lena Harris Griffin; his former wife Jean Dixon Griffin; and his siblings, Harold, Charles, James, Jimmie, Margaret Gainey, Luretha Norris and Helen House.

He is survived by: his wife Ozelle Royal Giles Griffin; his sister Lena Betts; and his sisters-in-law, Ann Dixon Moore, Joyce Parker Griffin and Judy R. Harrison. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
