He was predeceased by: his parents, James Brainard "Doc" Tart and Neva Godwin Tart; his wife Peggy Sue Dorman Tart; and his siblings, Oliver, Earl, Joseph Paul, Pat, John Tart, Janie Johnson, Armanita Johnson and Mae Wheeler.

He is survived by: his son Corbett W. "Corky" Tart, Jr. (Lanita) of Plain View; his grandchildren, Zachary Tart (Lea Anna) and Kyle Tart (Cindy); his great grandchildren, Grayson, Isabella, Blythe and Leo; his sister Ann Joyner (Tom) of Cary; and his close friend Karen Boyles of Sunset Beach. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
