He was predeceased by: his parents, Simeon Baker Newell, II and Louise Wiggs Newell; his spouse Raye Rowe Newell; his siblings, Edward Deleon Newell, David Henry Newell and Lille Newell Holmes; and his siblings-in-law, Faye Rowe, Bruce Olive and Edward "Baby" Holmes.
He is survived by: his daughter Lucinda "Cindy" Newell; his grandson Dylan Wells (Tiffany); his great grandchild Jordan Wells; his siblings, Randy Newell (Phyllis), Eleanor Smith (David), Lois Hannum (Bob) and Ann Olive; his adoptive son Al Cotter; and his siblings-in-law, Kenneth Rowe (Thelma) and Joy Newell. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his canine companion.
