He is survived by: his siblings, Kenny Powers and JoAnn Hovis; his children, Tanyau Benton (Sam), Lynna Chauncey (Steve), John Davenport (Lemy), Kevin Powers, Kim West, Mel Powers, Jr. (Cheri), Stephanie Hanson (Eric) and Steven Powers (Michelle); and his sisters, Rebecca Cameron, Margaret Powers-Whitehouse and Sharon McCarthy. He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and his canine companion.
