He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Asa and Marjorie Holland Byrd; his children, Jeannine Davenport (Gary) of Seven Springs, Jamie Byrd (Leah) of Dudley and Jerry Byrd Jr. (Angela) of Pikeville; his siblings, James "Rusty" Byrd of Deep Run, John "Slick" Byrd (Sandra) of Kinston and Janie Hilliard (Don) of Goldsboro; his close friend Lori Leach; his grandchildren, Charlie Davenport, Cody, Hayley, Logan, Austin, Kayley, Jackson and Brianna Byrd; his great grandchildren, Aubrey and Victoria; and his brother Jimmy Rock Byrd.
