He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer James Dills and Thelma Lee Estep Dills; and his sister Helen Pittman. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Dills; his children, Rick Dills (Payton), Heather Lilly (Steve) and Wesley Dills (Adam Lloyd); his grandchildren, Andrew Flora, Jordan Flora, Gracelyn Lilly, Colton Lilly, William Dills and Kayleigh Dills; his brothers, Ron Dills (Jan) and Don Dills (Teresa); and his pet Sassy Dills.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home (2873 US-117, Dudley, NC 28333). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at the Wayne Memorial Park.
