He is survived by: his wife Brenda Pipkin Carter; his children, Richard Douglas Carter (Michele) of Dudley and Amy Carter of Dudley; his grandson Alex Carter; his sisters, Carolyn Carter White of Gastonia, Nancy Carter Dawson (Stan) of Goldsboro and Frances Carter Vernett (Joe) of Goldsboro; and his nieces and nephews, Jimmy Wayne Murray, Jeffrey Michael Webster, Brian Hall, Joey Vernett, Josh Chestnut, Jordan Chestnut, Kathy Jean Waters, Pam Webster Chestnut, Jamee Dawson Foster and Heather Vernett.
Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests that memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
