He was predeceased by: his father Edward Grethen; his wife Gladys Grethen; his sons, Mark and Andy Grethen; his stepson Nelson Kelly; and his siblings, Sonja Root, Carole Feisted, Edward Grethen and Norman Grethen.
He is survived by: his children, Daniel Grethen of Norfolk, VA and Beth Wooster (Michael) of Clarkston, MI.; his stepdaughters, Jeanie Marlow and Freda Buchanan (Ron); and his brother Dennis Grethen of Eyota, IA. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.
