He was predeceased by: his parents, Hamp Earl and Peggy Chapman Mull Earl; and his sister Lucille Martin. He is survived by: his wife Mildred Ann Rayfield Mull; his daughter Dawn Smith (Donald) of Valdese; his brother Jerry Mull (Pat) of Valdese; his stepdaughters, Debra Huffman of Drexel and Sherry Bidix of Ocala, Fla.; his granddaughter Ava Smith; his stepgranddaughters, Amanda Firestine and Michelle Riffe; and his nieces, Frances Hildebran and Kim Guthrie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
