He was predeceased by: his siblings, Richard Hollifield and Betty Lou Whitlock. He is survived by: his wife Lila Cooper Hollifield; his son Clay Benjamin Hollifield III; his wife Sidney; his daughters, Jill Lowman (Grant), Nannette Morris (William) and Beth Scruggs (Jim); his grandchildren, Nathan Lowman (Holly), Caroline Howard (Kyle), Clay Benjamin Hollifield IV, Kathryn Morris, Whitney Stewart (Matt) and Erin Scruggs; and his great grandchildren, Ella Howard, Haven Stewart, Sage Stewart, Ian Stewart and Sawyer Lowman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, Building Fund, at PO Box 38, Drexel, NC 28619.
