He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Melanie Mason Mayo; his children, Kimberly Mayo of Dover, NC and Nic Mayo Jr. (Samantha Mayo) of Angier, NC; his sister Margaret Overton (J. L. Overton) of Aurora, NC; and his parents, Edgar Mayo and Beatrice Mayo. He was also cherished by eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, and nephews.
