He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayburn Winfield Hawks and Clennie Gaylean Hawks; his wife Cora Maebelle Cockerham Hawks; his siblings, Carl Hawks, James Arlen Hawks, Verlin Hawks, Manual Hawks and Allie Burcham; his parents-in-law, Claude and Mae Cockerham; and his brothers-in-law, Russell Cockerham and Haywood Cockerham.
He is survived by: his sons, Johnnie Ray Hawks and Jimmy Gray Hawks; his brother Paul; his siblings-in-law, Shirley Hawks, Norma Hawks, Jimmy, Carolyn Cockerham, Peggy and Jeffery Hodges; and his close friend Rhonda Boles. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
