He is survived by: his wife Nelta Hiatt Thayer; his children, Lisa Thayer Seeborg (Ryan), Joshua Rex Thayer (Jessica), Vickie Mounce Ramey (Tim) and Beckie Mounce Sebastian (Scott); his grandchildren, Camden Seeborg, Dylan Seeborg, Chloe Seeborg, Cassi Thayer, Scarlette Thayer and Garrett Draughn (Anna); and his siblings, Joy Koester (Gary), Nancy Mino (Keith), Elmer "Red" Thayer, Marsha Kosal (Ed), James "Jim" Thayer (Julie) and William "Bill" Thayer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, or The Marine Corp League's Toys for Tots program.
