She was predeceased by: her parents, William Crowe and Annie Mae Murray Crowe; her siblings, Bufford Crowe and Revonda Carswell; and her granddaughter Sarah Fortenberry.

She is survived by: her husband Larry Black; her children, Larry Keith Black (Julie) of Stanley, NC, Jeffrey Scott Black of Denver, NC and Cynthia Black Fortenberry (Jimmy) of Denver, NC; her siblings, Rev. William Crowe (Dolly) of Matthews, NC, Bobby Crowe (Diane) of Bostic, NC, Rosa Simmons of Mount Holly, NC, Mary Ann Blackwell of Georgia and Nina Gettys (Maynard) of Ellenboro, NC; her grandchildren, Madison Black, Jennings Storie (Sam), Samantha Black, Evan Black and Matthew Fortenberry (Arlie); and her great grandchildren, Asher, Henry and Eleanor Fortenberry.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the Unity Presbyterian Church (8210 Unity Church Rd, Denver, NC 28037). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
