He was predeceased by: his parents, Perry T. Nixon and Jessie Cherry Nixon; and his sisters, Kathleen Wallin (J. D.) and Dorothy McCall (Ned). He is survived by: his wife Lela Burgin Nixon; his children, Doug (Sarah), Valeria Nixon (Cookie) of St. Petersburg, FL and Janet Lawson (John) of Jamestown, NC; his grandsons, Brian Nixon (Christine), Mexico, Seth and Alec Lawson of Jamestown, NC; and his brother Tommy Nixon (Carol).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Unity Presbyterian Church, Hospice & Palliative Care of Lincoln County, 900 Donita Dr., Lincolnton, NC 28092 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
