She was predeceased by: her parents, William James and Rilla Norwood Smith; her husband Robert W. Duty; her siblings, James W Smith, Iris Fittery and Elizabeth Jarrett; her son Don Duty; and her son-in-law Sam Bridges.
She is survived by: her children, Beverly Heitman (Monte), Mike Duty (Donna) and Rita Bridges; her daughter-in-law Lynn Duty; her grandchildren, Monica Parsons (Matthew), Jennifer Suttle (John), Chris Duty (Kate), Chad Bridges, Nicole Bridges, John Duty (Abigail), Sarah Romesburg (Jason) and Anna Duty; and her brother Bobby Smith. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Briggs Funeral Home (103 E Salisbury St, Denton, NC 27239). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Faith Baptist Church (4518 Shiptontown Rd, Denton, NC 27239). An entombment was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at the Forest Hills Memorial Park (1307 W Old Hwy 64, Lexington, NC 27295).
