He was predeceased by: his parents, Adam Parnell and Kate Blue Parnell; and his siblings, A. L. Parnell, J. T. Parnell, LeRoy Parnell, Helen Hutchinson and Ann Elkins.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Glover Parnell; his children, Edward Parnell (Shryl) of Denton and Donna Hedrick (Scott) of Lexington; his grandchildren, Victoria Fleming (Jake), Bradley Hedrick (Konstance) and Jessica Hedrick; his great grandchild Gracie Fleming; and his siblings, Bobby Parnell (Judy) of Albemarle, Joe Parnell (Helen) of Trinity and Phylis Parnell of Mt Gilead.
