She was predeceased by: her parents, Otha Vester and Bessie Jones; her son Jackie Spears; and her brothers, Fred, Harrison and Vester Jones.
She is survived by: her husband Jackson Carl "JC" Spears; and her daughters, Dorothy Spears of Durham, Jeanette Spears Brown (Gary) of Lexington, Lisa Seawell (Billy) of New London and Mary Reese (Earl) of Asheville. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
