She was predeceased by: her parents, Bradley Brogdon and Gertrude Childress Brogdon; her siblings, David Brogdon, Ann Sechrest and Betsy Higgins; and her stepgranddaughter Roxanne Michelle Cromer.
She is survived by: her husband Donald "Duck" McDowell; her son Scott McDowell (Kellie Jo) of Denton; and her stepgrandsons, Brian Allen Anderson and Curtis Max Anderson. She is also survived by 17 step-great-grandchildren.
