She was predeceased by: her husband Luther H. Briles; her daughter Nerissa Anita Briles; and her siblings, Clyde Surratt, Wilma Hunt, Myrtice Byerly and Katherine Kearns.
She is survived by: her parents, Daniel Elvin Surratt and Maie Carroll Surratt; and her sister Mary Mayo of Winston Salem. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
