She was predeceased by: her parents, Lucas Legone Malpass and Lou Lorena Grice Malpass; her husband James "J. P." Gainey; and her siblings, Margaret Peterson, Rosalee Moore, Inez Wallace, Winfred Malpass, Bernice Malpass, Raeford Malpass and Evelyn Dale.
She is survived by: her children, James Stephen Gainey (Shelly) of Pearland, TX, Richard Lewis Gainey of Brunswick, GA and Iris Marie Derrick of Oak Island, NC; her grandchildren, Amanda Gainey, Rachel Inge (Ryan), Karyn Snyder (Al) and Lucas Gainey; her great grandchildren, Alexander, Katrina, Averie, Mason and Caroline; her brother Alfred Ray Malpass; her caregivers, Elizabeth DeLamater and Joyce Ellis; and her niece Connie "Faye" Dale.
