He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Thomas Powell and Bessie Lee Reaves Powell; his siblings, William Powell, Kathlene Avant, Beulah Mae Simmons and Addie Bennett of Virginia; and his daughter Gloria Ann Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Cruse Powell of Delco, NC; his children, Madeline Darlene P. Carroll (Terry) of Delco, NC, Robert "Bobby" Lee Powell, Jr. (Bonita) of Delco, NC, Timothy Brian Powell of Delco, NC and William Dean Powell (Sarah) of Leland, NC; his grandchildren, Zackary, Crystle, Johannah, Ashley and Lee; and his great grandchildren, Grae, Jameson, Allison, Walter, Jonathan and Tyler.
