He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Lee Whitman, Sr. and Geneva Gobble Whitman; his son Kenny Hayes; and his wife Margaret Carol Staley Whitman. He is survived by: his daughter Annette Hedrick (David) of Lexington; his siblings, Terry Whitman (Kathy McMahan Whitman) of Lexington and Kathy Huff of Lexington; his close friend Frances Bennett; his grandchildren, Pam Long (Christian) of Wallburg, Carrie Mabe (John) of Wallburg, Joey Hayes (Danielle) of Lexington and Kennie Sledge (Nick) of Lexington; his great grandchildren, Sara Parnell (Jacob), Christopher Long, Caden Latham, Baylee Mabe, Makenzie Mabe, Caige Palmer, Blake Hayes, Kelcie Sledge and Courtney Sledge; his nieces and nephews, Danielle Beeson (Seth), Michaela Whitman, Scott Huff (Penny) and Bradley Huff; his siblings-in-law, JoAnn Thomas and Larry Staley (Patsy); and his caregiver Vickie Leonard.
