He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolf Carmann and Dorothy Carmann; his former wife Marcia Carmann; his brothers, Ken Carmann and Harvey Carmann; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Thober, Lloyd Modlin, John Levi, Barbara Schlachter and Ellie Thober.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine Carmann (Hibbeler); his children, Julie Carmann Herickhoff (John) of Arlington, Virginia, Timothy Carmann of Jersey City, Jeff Hibbeler (April) of Davidson and Steve Hibbeler (Haley) of Westminster, Colorado; his siblings, Glen Carman of Riverdale, Nebraska, Mary Ann Levi of Green Valley and Dorene Carmann of Hastings, Nebraska; his sister-in-law Mel Schlachter (Ellie) of Iowa City, Iowa.; and his grandchildren, Paige, Max, Tess, Abby, Brooke, Lexi, Jacy and Trevor. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island, Nebraska and St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Davidson, North Carolina.
