He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Columbus Sr. and Bessie Pearl Fulton Bruce of Winston Salem; and his brother Dennis Bruce of Spartanburg, SC.. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen Martin; his children, Samantha Bruce McGahey of Clayton, Robert Michael Bruce II of Palm Harbor, FL and Guinevere Bruce Motl (Mark) of Palm Harbor, FL; his stepchildren, Andrew Mathys III of Danbury and Lydia Henderson (Chad) of Greenville, SC.; his siblings, Branson Bruce of Danbury, Mary Scott of Richmond, VA and John Bruce of Raleigh; and his grandchildren, Amanda McGahey, Stuart McGahey, Hannah Bruce, Robert Michael Bruce III, Nathan Motl, Lorelei Henderson and Maeve Henderson.
