He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Clyde Cloninger and Ruth Huffstetler Cloninger; and his brother Robert Lee Cloninger. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Stillwell Cloninger; his daughters, Angela Cloninger Ray (Jimi), Leslie Cloninger Fenlon (Robbie) and Allison Cloninger Bell (Clint); his grandchildren, Austin Ray (Angel), Culley Fenlon (Libby), Andrew Ray (Blaire), Mack Fenlon, Luke Fenlon and Natalie Bell; his great grandchildren, Avery and Asher Ray; and his sister-in-law Frances Cloninger. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rankin Lake Baptist Church, 2705 Gastonia Dallas Hwy, Dallas, NC 28034.
