She was predeceased by: her parents, Cregg Bess and Helen Jenkins Bess; her husband David Miller; her son Cregg Wesley Henderson; her brothers, Cregg A. "Tony" Bess, Jr. and Maurice Benton "Benny" Bess; and her nephew Cregg A. "Andy" Bess, III.
She is survived by: her nieces and nephews, Ginger Bess Elliot (Alex), Anna Bess, Donna Bess, Burt Bess and Tony Bess; her great-niece Candice Nicole Bess; her great-nephew Anthony Hanner Bess; her aunt Doris Reep; and her uncle Morris Jenkins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Duke University Medical Center or Ronald McDonald House (Durham).
