He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Alonzo Ballard and Addie Ballard (Brewer); his son Keith Ballard; and his siblings, Glenn Ballard and Carolyn Ballard Owens.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia Ballard; his sons, Kevin Ballard, Gary Ballard (Dawn) and Terry Ballard (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Andra Thompson, Bethanie Clark (Ballard), Brandon Ballard, Summer Ballard, Paxton Ballard and Avery Ballard; his great grandchildren, Madilyn Ballard, Brody Ballard, Macayla Thompson and Landon Thompson; and his child Pigmy Goats.
