It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Herndon Merritt of Currie, North Carolina, who passed away on February 22, 2021, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Herndon L. Merritt and Katie Merritt; and his siblings, T. C. Merritt, Dewey Merritt, Rebecca M. Porter and Rachel M. Williamson.
He is survived by: his wife Etta Marie Merritt; his children, Cynthia Merritt Morris (Floyd) of Currie, NC, Keith R. Merritt (Susan) of Durham, NC and Tim L. Merritt (Tina) of Rocky Point, NC.; his grandchildren, Emily Burch (Shawn), Patrick Merritt (Taylor), Katherine Wright, Taylor Merritt and Trenton Merritt; his great grandchildren, Landon Burch and McKinley Burch; his brothers, Edwin T. Merritt (Brenda) of Wallace, NC, Billy Ray Merritt (Katherine) of Reidsville, NC and Alton G. Merritt (Penny) of Carlsbad, CA.; and his siblings-in-law, Jean Merritt of Clinton, NC and Wiley Williamson of Goldsboro, NC. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Due to Covid-19, social distancing and masks will be required.
