He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Rudolph Clinton Malpass and Dixie Howard Malpass; his wife Carrie B. Malpass; his children, Connie M. Melvin (Mike) and Stephen "Steve" E. Malpass (Ann Marie); his granddaughters, Jillian Melvin-Scully (Brian) and Portia Bishop Pridgen (Nick); and his great grandchild Jocelyn Pridgen. He was also cherished by many extended family members and friends.
