It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virginia Bass Tart of Cumberland, North Carolina, who passed away on June 20, 2023, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Chester Bass and Mary Page Bass of Cumberland County; and her sister Grace Knowles. She is survived by: her husband Hugh Willie Tart of Dunn; her extended family Hugh; her daughter Anne Tart; her grandson Derrick Johnson; her brother Columbus "Red" Bass; her daughters, Gayle Tart Davis (Richard) of Durham and Ruth Dare Tart Staples of Pembroke Pines, Florida; her grandsons, Evan Davis (Erica) of Chapel Hill and Stuart Davis of Brooklyn; and her great grandchildren, Erika and Victoria Johnson of Pembroke Pines, Florida..
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to Stoney Run Church, Dunn; Yates Baptist Church, Durham; or Durham Urban Ministries.
