He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilkie Fate Lafayette Robinson and Bertha Jarrett Robinson; his wife Jean Williams Robinson; and his siblings, John Biss, Champ, Bruce Cecil, Virginia Maude Penland, Vergie Mae Miller, Nellie Jane Rowland, Lena Delores Lawrence and Mary Grace Bradley.

He is survived by: his children, Stephanie E. Robinson of Durham, NC and McDaniel "Mac" Robinson Jr. (Sheila) of Spruce Pine, NC; his grandchildren, Danielle McCool (Seth) of Spruce Pine, NC, Sarah Robinson of Waynesville, NC, Ben Robinson of Spruce Pine, NC, Will and Jack; and his great grandchild Kade McCool of Spruce Pine, NC..
