He is survived by: his sons, Johnnie Dee Painter Jr. (Leslie) of Napa, CA. and Doug Painter (Mary Anne) of Cullowhee; and his siblings, Doris Monteith of Sylva and Harrison Painter (Ina) of Knoxville, TN..
