He was predeceased by: his daughter Deborah Lynn Owens. He is survived by: his wife Joanne McCoy Owens; his children, Jim Owens (Eve) of Georgia, Pat Lefevers (Robert) of Creston and Pamela Owens of Creston; his sisters, Josie Odom of Kingsport, TN, Mary Osborne, Ruth Osborne, Louella Weaver of Mountain City, TN and Ann Owens of Boone; and his grandchildren, Diane Lipford, Cynthia Antol, Maranda Dickey and James Owens. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
