He was predeceased by: his parents, James Donald "Jim" Gray Sr. and Rose McDowell Gray; and his brother Bobby Lynn Gray. He is survived by: his wife Lillian Parrott Gray; his children, James Donald "Jimmy" Gray III (Robin) of Creedmoor and Elaine G. Tart (Dwight) of Dunn; his sister Malda G. Kenyon of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Austin Tart (Emma) of Clinton, Kendall Wooten (Houston) of Spivey Corner and Kelsey Parrish (Christopher) of Butner; and his great grandchildren, Gray Tart, Olivia Parrish, Aker Wooten and Case Wooten.
