He was predeceased by: his daughter Betty Smith; his wife Catherine Banks Dawson; and his brother Albert "Jaybird" Dawson. He is survived by: his children, Sherry Lee (Jimmy), Edward T. Dawson, Jr. (Diane) and Frankie Dawson. He is also survived by Thirty four grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, March 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Wintergreen Original Free Will Baptist Church (2175 Wintergreen Rd, Cove City, NC 28523). A burial was held on Sunday, March 2nd 2025 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
