He is survived by: his wife Patricia Johnston Matthews; his children, Wes Strickland (Lisa) of Cornelius, Brooks Matthews, III (Katherine) of Charleston, SC and Shannon Strickland (Paul) of Cleveland, OH; his sister Catherine Walther of Atlanta, GA; his grandchildren, Tyler, Joshua, Michael, Jonathan Musial, Caitlin MacKinnon, Riley, Catherine, Marie Strickland, Peyton, Eleanor and Frances Matthews; and his great grandchild Addison Strickland.
