She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Jay Potter and Irene Rolley Potter. She is survived by: her husband Dennis Eugene Hemmis; her children, Christine Marie Evans, Scott William Hemmis and Matthew E. Hemmis (Joni); her grandchildren, Danielle Nicole Hemmis, Jaycen Evans, Sara Hemmis, Sumerlyn Hemmis, Emma Grace Hemmis, Haley Crumley (Will) and Jacob Hemmis; and her siblings, Roberta "Bobbie" Schauer (Ron), James Robert "Butch" Potter and Jeff Potter. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Parr Funeral Home & Crematory (3515 Robs Dr, Suffolk, VA 23434). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A reception was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Beulah Baptist Church (967 US-158, Sunbury, NC 27979).
