She was predeceased by: her parents, Gordon Harrell and Beulah Pledger Harrell. She is survived by: her husband H. Calvin Piland; her brothers, Raleigh, Talmadge, Gene and Daniel Harrell; her children, Lisa Piland Matthews (Robert) of Elizabeth City and William Calvin "Billy" Piland (Dawn) of White Lake; her brother Chester Harrell of Suffolk, VA; and her grandsons, Robert Wayne Matthews, Jr., Nolan Chase Matthews, William Jared Piland and Ayden Michael Piland. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
