It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter MacK Sykes Sr. of Conway, North Carolina, who passed away on December 7, 2020, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Benjamin Sykes, Jr. and Mildred Oakes Sykes; and his wife Rebecca Jean Sykes. He is survived by: his son Mack Sykes (Tracy) of Conway; his siblings, Glenda Phillips of Mebane, Kay Langford of Graham, John Richard Sykes of Winston Salem and Robert Franklin Sykes of Graham; his grandchildren, Cameron Wallace Sykes and Rebecca Christine Sykes; and his close friend Hilda Whelan of Margarettsville.
