He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifton Burgess and Bernice Dunn Burgess; his wife Elizabeth Hobbs Burgess; and his siblings, James Wilson Burgess, Billy Burgess, Earl Preston Burgess and Mary Louise Burgess.
He is survived by: his sons, Carl Burgess and Charles Burgess; his daughter-in-law Rachel Burgess; his grandsons, Bruce Burgess, Stanley Burgess and Stephen Burgess; and his siblings, Lynn Burgess and Troy Burgess (Rita Burgess). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
