He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Smith and Juanita Prevatte Smith; his daughter Drenda Smith; and his brother Gene Smith. He is survived by: his wife Mary Hill Smith; his children, James Scott Smith (Barbara) of High Point, Nanci Anna Smith of Conover and Savannah Smith of Conover; his sister Brenda Beam (Ron); and his grandchildren, Harley Smith, Nolan Smith, Cory Tate, Joseph Tate, Kristin Ledbetter, Stacey Propst and Jacob Brown Fifteen.
