She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Turner and Susan Ikerd Turner; and her sister Janice Turner. She is survived by: her daughters, Karen Blackburn (Todd) of Taylorsville and Teddie Barrier of Granite Falls.

Visitation was held on Sunday, December 29th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (2126 St Johns Church Rd NE, Conover, NC 28613). A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 29th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church of Conover.

“My thoughts and prayers to the Bumgarner Family. Phyllis and I taught mathematics in Catawba County Schools for over 30 years. We headed the math departments, she at Bunker Hill High, and I at St. Stephens High. She was highly respected and we valued her opinions when we got together. The math teacher with the "sports car" was who we knew in the "ol' days". Rest in Peace, Phyllis, you will be missed.”
