With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Peggy Jean Herman Smith (Conover, North Carolina), born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away on February 18, 2019 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clyde Hayden Herman, Sr. and Orene Shell Herman; her husband Douglas Smith; and her siblings, Ethel H. Miller and C. H. Herman, Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Debbie Rockette of Conover, NC, Tony Smith (Patricia) of Lexington, NC, Dwayne Smith of Hickory, NC and Michael Smith (Marianne) of Yanceyville, NC; her grandchildren, Amy Smith, Matt Smith (Katy, Jodie Coffey), Sterling Rockette (Mahayla) and Mackenzie Smith; and her great grandchildren, Elliott, Grayson, Everette and Lily. She is also survived by her husband with the local Boy Scouts and enjoyed being involved in the various activities of her children and grandchildren.
