He was predeceased by: his parents, Ransom Lail and Londa Munday Lail; his wife Dorothy McCray Lail; his grandson Chad Lail; and his great grandchildren, Devin Lail and Cameron Lail.

He is survived by: his children, Barbara Huffman (Larry) of Hickory, Pamela Garrett (Alan) of Conover, Randy Lail (Karen) of Hickory and Dale Lail (Frankie) of Hickory; his grandchildren, Nicole Spatz (Jonathan), Lauren Huffman, Curtis Huffman (Stacey), Gabby Spatz, Josie Spatz, Andi Spatz, Lori Klingensmith (Robert), Randy Lail Jr., William Lail, Maddox Lail, Kaysen Lail, Ben Lail (Morgan), Tanner Lail, Bridget Mitchell (Michael), Sarah McDowell (Will) and William Garrett; and his brother Carl Lail. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren.
