He was predeceased by: his mother Edna Hewitt Wilfong; his wife Judy Hewitt; and his brothers, Charles, Norman Hewitt, Doug Hewitt and William Hewitt.
He is survived by: his son Rick Eckard of Charlotte, N. C.; his siblings, Sylvia Hewitt of Hickory, Billy Wilfong (Teri) of Conover, N. C, Cynthia Wilfong of Conover, N. C and Reverend Allen Wilfong (Juanita) of Newton, N. C.; and his nephew Jeremiah Wilfong of Conover, N. C. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
