It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald West Whitener of Conover, North Carolina, who passed away on June 29, 2023, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Wilfong Whitener, MD and Marion Lefler Whitener; his wife Sharon; his daughters, Jillian, Colleen and Lauren; his mother-in-law Barbara Nass; his siblings-in-law, Debra Bechtel and Ken Bechtel; and his nephew Stephen Bechtel.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Carolina Caring Foundation Attn: Pet Peace of Mind, Parkinson's Foundation or Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Fund.
